Mezzo-soprano Christina Swanson and pianist Sasha Beresovsky present a program of art song, including the Gypsy Songs of Antonín Dvořák, vocalises by Prokofiev and Rachmaninov, the Banalités of Francis Poulenc, cabaret pieces by William Bolcom, and a new set by composer Harriet Steinke.
Mezzo-Soprano Christina Swanson is an emerging artist based in New York City. Swanson recently worked as a Festival Artist with Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theater. She covered the Second Lady in The Magic Flute, Ma Moss in The Tenderland, as well as singing in the Ensemble of both The Tenderland and Carmen. In addition, she was featured as a soloist in Tabernacle concerts and cabarets hosted by the festival. A multi-talented performer, she also served as the Dance Captain for The Tenderland.
Sasha Beresovsky is a graduate of Indiana University and New York University, studying most recently with Jeffrey Swann. He is a frequent guest at the Barn, as well as The Lyceum in Old Town Alexandria, where in 2015 he performed Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations.
