Unfortunately, this concert has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. Our apologies for the confusion and inconvenience.
Tanya Bartevyan is known for her passionate, intelligent, and sensitive playing. Her performances combine profound musical mastery with a direct connection to her audience. She has performed in Boston area venues such as Jordan Hall, the Gardner Museum, WGBH Radio, Harvard University and internationally in Spain, France, Switzerland, and Turkey.

Tanya was born in Istanbul of Armenian heritage and came to the US to study at Harvard University, where, after a difficult choice between an artistic or scientific area of concentration, she graduated A.B. cum laude in Music, with emphasis on composition and piano performance. She subsequently earned her Master’s Degree in Piano Performance with High Honors at the New England Conservatory of Music and also studied orchestral conducting. Tanya began her musical studies at age three with her mother, Meline. Her teachers include Elizabet Erkul, Anahit Hanesyan, Ferdi Statzer, Veronica Jochum, Katja Andy, Leonard Shure, and Maria Clodes Jaguaribe. Her mentors’ direct musical ancestries extend back to Liszt, Beethoven, Bruckner, and Clara Schumann. She studied composition with Fred Lerdahl and Ivan Tcherepnin.

Tanya has a lifelong interest in math and sciences and writes about connections and unities among artistic, scientific, and social/psychological phenomena. Theater and environmental protection are other passions.

Tanya’s diverse intellectual interests and her multi-cultural, multi-lingual background have enriched and informed her artistic persona with an appreciation of the universal and the unique in each moment.
Her program will include works by Chopin, Schubert and other selections from the classical and romantic repertoire. She will also offer some “in the moment” improvisations.
Surry Arts and the performer encourage audience members to kindly wear a mask for this concert. We will comply with state of Maine and U.S. CDC COVID guidelines. Please be considerate of other’s bubble of caution.
