Classical: Piano Soloist – Annemieke McLane

This year’s program “Piano Treasures”, music through centuries, will include works by Couperin, Beethoven’s Pathetique, Boulanger, Debussy and more..
Pianist Annemieke (Spoelstra) McLane was born in the Netherlands and studied for her Masters in Piano Performance at the conservatory in Zwolle with Rudy de Heus.

She received the Student of the Year Award for her final recital, for sensitive playing and well balanced programs. Besides her solo playing, she was collaborative pianist at the conservatories of Zwolle, Arnhem, Rotterdam, Amsterdam for different instrumentalists and vocalists.

At the Sweelinck conservatory of Amsterdam she specialized in ArtSong Accompaniment. She received at age 21 the National Young Music Talent Award for best accompanist. Praised for her toucher and coloring. After her Master’s Degree she studied privately with Tan Crone in Amsterdam (who had studied with Rudolf Serkin and Nadia Boulanger.)

Annemieke was finalist in Paris for the Lily and Nadia Boulanger competition.
She had masterclasses with Rudolf Jansen, Elly Ameling, Miranda van Kralingen, Benjamin Rawitz, Roger Vignoles, Tan Crone, Peter Serkin, Noel Lee, Shmuel Magen.

When she arrived in Vermont in 2004, she started teaching piano at St. Michael’s College and in her private studio.
She has played for the SMC Chorale with conductor Nathaniel Lew for 11 years
and was pianist for the VYO Choruses with Jeff Buettner conducting.

She was founding member of the Heliand Trio (now consort), and played for the Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble. ( under her maiden name ‘Spoelstra’)
She moved from Burlington to the Upper Valley where she lives with her husband accordionist Jeremiah McLane and their son Luke.

Annemieke has been teaching at the Upper Valley Music Center, and she was pianist for the Thetford Chamber Singers.

Since 2013/14 she is the pianist for the Handel Society of Dartmouth College, Dr. Robert Duff conductor/ musical director.
Since 2015 she is also playing for the Theater Department of Dartmouth College, for classes taught by prof. Carol Dunne.

Annemieke teaches at her home studio, and is music director of the United Church of Strafford.

In 2018, Annemieke was part of the Central Vermont Chamber Music Festival as solo-pianist, including giving a masterclass.

Past performances were in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, France.
in the US (VT, ME, FL, CT, MA, NH) and in Quebec as a soloist and as a duo with Jeremiah McLane in “Cassotto Duo” (new name since 2017).
She plays in the Cassotto Duo (Jeremiah and Annemieke McLane).

The Cassotto Duo teams up with 8 Cuerdas (Sarah Cullins and Daniel Gaviria) as the ‘Piazzolla Project’, specialized in South American music (mainly Argentian Tango).

She performs with cellist Emily Taubl, soprano Julie Ness, flutist Anne Janson, and clarinetist Matthew Marsit. In 2019 Cassotto Duo will start working with soprano Mary Bonhag and bassist Evan Premo. Annemieke plays every year new solo concerts throughout the state.
At the United church of Strafford she performs monthly concerts.
